La Jota Vineyards Co.

La Jota Vineyard Co. was founded in 1898 by Frederick Hess. The winery name comes from its location on the 1843 Mexican land grant, Rancho La Jota. The historic stone building still houses winemaking operations today. In 2005, Jackson Family Wines purchases the La Jota Vineyard Co. and surrounding acreage and names Chris Carpenter as winemaker. Today, our La Jota Howell Mountain property consists of 94 acres planted across 2 estate vineyards, La Jota Vineyard and W.S. Keyes Vineyard.
